FAQ’S
What should I bring to class?

Just yourself, your baby and a towel or muslin. Few things you might like to remember to bring.. nappies, wipes, formula milk (if needed) and anything that helps your baby feel settled. Everything else is provided.

What should my baby wear?

Dress your baby in something easy to remove as they will usually be in just a nappy for massage. The room will be warm and cosy. You can of course keep parts covered if your baby prefers.

What if my baby needs feeding or changing during the class?

Feeding and changing are always welcome. You know your baby best and you can feed/change/settle whenever you need to. There is no pressure to follow along at all times. You will receive a weekly massage guide too so don’t worry about missing parts.

What if my baby cries during the class?

You may find that your baby cries during part of the massage session. This is completely normal and does not mean that you are doing something wrong or that your baby does not like what you are doing. If your baby begins to cry during the massage, you are the best judge of whether to finish the massage or continue. If you feel your baby has had enough, try again another day. If you have an active or sensitive baby, then keep sessions short. A little bit of massage works wonders! The most important thing to remember is that it should be a positive experience for both you and your baby.

What if I feel nervous or unsure?

This is completely normal especially if it’s your first class. The sessions are relaxed, supportive and non judgemental. There is no expectation to get anything perfect.

What oil do you use and is it safe?

I use 100% organic sunflower seed oil, you are welcome to bring your own if you prefer.

Do I have to massage my baby if they are asleep or unsettled?

Not at all. You are encouraged to watch, relax, cuddle your baby or practise on a doll if your baby is asleep or not in the mood. There is never any pressure. You will get a guide after each session so you won’t miss anything and you can also practice at home.

When is the best time to massage?

Always massage your baby when they are calm and alert. Do not massage your baby if they are unwell, have a fever, upset tummy, sickness, rash, unusual lumps or bumps or any contagious disease. If your baby has any chronic medical conditions, seek GP consent. Please let me know if baby has had jabs 48-72 hours prior to the class.

What if I need to miss a class?

If you do need to miss a class, just let me know by messaging me. Even if it is half an hour before. If you do miss a session, don’t worry we repeat everything each week and you can catch up with anything you are unsure of. I also send out a guide each week so you can practice at home.

Can I practice at home between sessions?

Yes, regular practice helps your baby become more familiar with the touch, allowing them to relax more deeply and gain the full benefits of baby massage over time. You will also both benefit from the calming and bonding connection that massage creates. Weekly guides are sent so you can practice whenever it feels right for you and your baby. Even short, little sessions can make a big difference.
