My Story
Hi, I’m Sylvia! Mum of three, eternal tea drinker (never coffee!) and lover of calm… even if my daily life with kids is anything but!
I know exactly how overwhelming pregnancy, birth and early motherhood can feel. My first birth in 2014 left me scared, lost and totally unprepared. I thought birth was just something painful and messy that I had to ‘get through’. I didn’t trust my body, had no tools to help and didn’t realise I could make informed choices.
I felt helpless and honestly, a bit clueless. As labour progressed, I remember thinking, “when will this end?” I felt emotionally and physically drained and wished I’d felt more in control and at peace. That experience is one of the main reasons I’m so passionate about helping women feel confident, calm and empowered for their birth.

When I finally discovered what Hypnobirthing really is and that it’s not some ‘hippy nonsense’ but a powerful, evidence-based approach that connects the mind and body and transforms how we experience labour. I was shocked!
Why weren’t we all taught this? Why did I do it the hard way? How do so many of us go into labour without this knowledge, without understanding how our body is designed for birth, without the tools to stay calm and in control and without the deep trust that birth can be a positive experience?
Every woman deserves to know that birth doesn’t have to be filled with fear. It isn’t just something to survive; it can be something we remember with pride, power and even joy.
Whether you’re feeling anxious, curious or excited about birth, I’m here to support you in feeling more relaxed, empowered and prepared to meet your baby.
I believe birth doesn’t last just a day or two, it’s an experience that stays with us for a lifetime.
“Birth is not only about making babies. It’s about making mothers – strong, competent, capable mothers who trust themselves and know their inner strength.”
– Barbara Katz Rothman
That’s why I created Nü Nest To support parents not just through birth, but through the early days of motherhood too. With gentle tools, reassurance and a calm mindset that helps you trust your body, your baby and yourself.
Early motherhood also brought its own challenges. My first baby struggled with reflux. I often felt unsure how to help him. The sleepless nights, constant worry and overthinking left me anxious and doubting myself.
I wished there had been a space where I could be honest about how hard it really felt and know it was normal to feel that way.
That’s why I love baby massage. Not just for the benefits for babies such as easing discomfort, supporting digestion and helping them feel calmer but for the way it gives you gentle tools to soothe your baby while building your confidence and connecting you with other mums who truly understand what you’re going through.
My classes aren’t just about learning massage, they’re about you! They’re about connecting with other mums, sharing your journey, making friends and knowing you are not alone. It’s a space where you can relax, be heard and feel supported while your baby benefits too. When your baby feels calmer, you often do as well and that can make such a difference in those early weeks.
I want you to have the space I wish I’d had. A place where you can feel reassured, supported and connected. A space where you can slow down, share your experiences and leave feeling calmer, more confident and reminded that you are doing an amazing job.

I was petrified to give birth. The unknown and the uncertainty was taking over my pregnancy.
However, you were so warm, friendly and gave me the space to talk and express my feelings and worries. The course was so much more than I imagined.
